The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, participated today, Sunday, September 22, in the opening of the Future Summit (FS) in New York, which will be held over two days before the start of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that the General Assembly adopted the “Charter for the Future”, which includes five main chapters:
Sustainable development and financing for development, international peace and security, science, technology and innovation, digital cooperation, youth and future generations, transforming global governance, in addition to the Global Digital Charter and the Declaration of Future Generations as annexes to the Future Charter.
The official spokesman added that the Secretary-General will deliver his speech before the presidents and leaders during the summit on its second day, where he will emphasize his sovereignty over Arab concerns on various issues related to the Future Charter, especially the issue of reforming and expanding the Security Council.
