Minister Abdel Aati meets members of American Representatives and Senate

Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, concluded his meetings with 12 members of the US Congress by meeting with Representative Steve Scalise, Republican Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, Senator Jon Ossoff, member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Senator Chris Van Hollen, member of the Senate Foreign Relations Appropriations Subcommittee, on Thursday, September 19.

Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, explained that the meetings of the Foreign Minister provided an opportunity to review all aspects of bilateral political, economic, commercial and military relations, and the progress Egypt has witnessed in terms of human rights. The meetings also reflected a growing awareness by members of Congress of Egypt’s constructive role in the region at various levels, and the rapid steps it is taking to support security and stability in the region despite the serious unrest that the Middle East is suffering from.

Ambassador Khalaf added that the meetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs witnessed consultation and exchange of views and assessments on major regional issues, most notably the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and developments in Libya, Sudan, Somalia, the Horn of Africa and the Ethiopian Dam, and witnessed agreement on views on most of these issues, and appreciation of Egypt’s point of view on ways to deal with them properly, in a way that contributes to strengthening regional peace and security.
