President El-Sisi’s Address To The Meeting Of the Palestinian National Unity Government in Gaza

SIS –  “In the Name of Allah the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”.. Brothers and Sisters Members of the Palestinian unity government, in this historic day, I extend my appreciation to you, wishing you all success in fulfilling the hopes of the Palestinian people as well as all the Arab peoples to establish an independent Palestinian state.

Egypt has always, despite the challenges, been a supporter of the Palestinian people’s legal demands and the Palestinian Cause. The cause has always been at the top of Egypt’s priorities during meetings with world leaders or during international conventions.

Today, I would like to tell you that the whole world is watching your efforts to acheive reconciliation between the Palestinian people, and your persistence in overcoming previous obstacles to harmony and unity is valued.

I have a full belief that the differences should be solved among the Palestinians’ factions with the support of your Arab brothers, rejecting interference from any foreign powers on the issue.

What have happened in the past years proves that no one benefits from divisions between the political factions. No one benefits except those who exploit the situation to achieve their goals to keep extremism in the part of some Palestinian groups.

Brothers and Sisters,

I am confident that the Palestinian leaders would appreciate the sensitivity of the current situation and the importance of converging to accomplish unity and move forward with the wishes of the hero Palestinian people.

I have been keen on delegating Chief of General Intelligence to attend this event, asserting Egypt’s interest for providing every kind of help and support to accomplish the mission, which we all aspire to be a real nucleus to reorganize the Palestinian fold from the inside.

I reiterate that Egypt’s support to your march towards consensus and unity will never stop if Allah’s Willing and you will always find us by your side.

I have repeatedly said that there is an ample opportunity for realizing peace in the region provided that all parties would combine their efforts in this respect. I reiterate that we should all collaborate to ensure the sincerity of the Palestinian people’s orientations towards realizing a comprehensive and just peace in the region and restoring his legitimate rights.

Creating an adequate atmosphere for providing a decent and secure life for all the peoples of the region should top our objectives. I am all confident that when the superpowers around the world find that the Palestinian parties are fully aware of the nature of this phase and importance of dialogue for realizing peace, they will help realizing such a comprehensive peace in a manner that would fulfil the aspirations of our people towards stability, prosperity and development.

I confirm for all that we have no time to lose and that history will hold whoever causes the loss of such opportunity to achieve peace accountable.

Finally, I would like to extend, again, sincere greetings to the Palestinian people with all its factions and sects, assuring that Egypt was and will always be determined to achieve a qualitative leap in the march of the Palestinian people towards a better future.
