IRNA – Iran and Turkey aim at maintaining peace, stability and security in the region, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.
Rouhani made the remarks Wednesday in a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Tehran on Wednesday.
He referred to sensitive issues in the region especially in Syria and Iraqi Kurdistan Region, saying Iran, Turkey and Russia cooperation aim at creating peace and security in Syria.
Iran and Turkey will not accept escalation of ethnic and religious tensions which are caused by foreigners and also separatism in the region, he said.
Rouhani went on to say that Iraq and Syria are united countries and we do not accept any change in geographical borders.
People of Iraqi Kurdistan Region are our friends and we do not like to see any pressure on Kurdish people, he said.
Iran, Turkey and Iraq have to take new measures to fulfill their strategic targets in the region, he noted.
He pointed to fighting terrorism as an important goal for Iran and Turkey, and urged both sides to confront any terrorist in anywhere.
