Sisi to Fox News: Extremist groups adopt wrong ideologies
SIS – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Wednesday that there are erroneous ideas that harmed Islam.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News network, he explained that extremist groups are adopting wrong ideologies that resulted in current terrorism in the world.
Renewing the religious discourse means renewing understanding of religion and rectifying these wrong ideas and ideologies, he added.
President Sisi asserted that the international community should stand united in the face of terrorism through adopted a comprehensive strategy for fighting terrorism.
This strategy should not stop only at the military or security aspects but also should include the economic, social and cultural dimensions of the problem, added the president.
In his interview with Fox News network, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that difference in views is natural.
The president underlined the necessity of not tarnishing the image of all Muslims because some of them are doing something wrong.
He further noted that Arabs and Muslims are the most harmed by terrorism and extremism in the world.
The anchor approved the remark by the president noting that most of those killed by terrorists and extremists and Muslims.
He addressed the president reminding him that he resorted to a military action in retaliation for the killing of 21 Egyptian Copts in Libya by Daesh terrorist group.
The president said that it was the first time that Egyptian forces carry out an operation outside the Egyptian territories to strike against terrorist elements.
The Egyptian leadership, said the president, could not leave such an incident pass unpunished.
The anchor said that Egypt has announced the Muslims Brotherhood group as a terrorist organization. Also, Cairo asked Washington to designate the group as a terrorist organization but some parties inside the US are resisting this move. So what is the reason in your viewpoint.
The president said that the US is a major power and a great country in the world. It has diversified ideologies and has its own views which are respected by Egypt.
The president said that it will take sometime until the US announces the Muslim Brotherhood as an extremist group. The move will take place not only in the US but in the whole world, added the president.
President Sisi urged unifying all efforts for fighting terrorism in all its forms, shapes and names either it was Boko Haram, Daesh or Ansar Beit al Maqdes.
All are different faces of the same bad coin; which is terrorism, the president pointed out.
