In a new tradition, Russian women working at the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo decided to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan in Old Cairo and its most famous neighborhood, Khan El-Khalili.
Aksana Elena noted, “As soon as I arrived in the Khan El-Khalili area, I felt as if I had returned to ancient times and the world of One Thousand and One Nights. The atmosphere here is magical and has a special character that I have never experienced anywhere else in the world.” Aksana emphasized that this was her first visit to Egypt, but she hopes to repeat it.
Ekaterina Kachieva noted that she “teaches Russian to Egyptians and lives in Egypt, but the atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan in the Al-Hussein and Khan El-Khalili areas is different from anywhere else in the world.”
Ludmila Vladimirovna stated, “Foreigners are keen to celebrate Ramadan in the Khan area specifically because it is different from other places.” Gulnara Yarullina said, “Our visit today to Khan El-Khalili was for more than one occasion. First, to celebrate this holy month. We also celebrated International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day.” Asya Abrisova noted, “Egypt is distinguished by its archaeological and historical sites, and visiting these places is a boundless pleasure for us.” Irina Izatova said, “I live in Cairo and frequent tourist sites, but Khan El-Khalili remains the most prominent due to its historical depth and architectural uniqueness.” Hoda Hussein, administrative officer at the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, commented, “Visiting Khan El-Khalili and celebrating all these occasions brought us a sense of happiness amidst the enchanting Ramadan atmosphere in beautiful Egypt.”
