Iran Film Market Has Appropriate Potentials to Introduce Iranian Films to World

The Iranian director of the movie” Hush! The Girls Do Not Cry!” said that the Fajr International Film Festival provides the Iranian and international filmmakers with the opportunity to interact effectively.
According to the Public Relations Office of 33rd edition of the FIFF, Pouran Derakhshandeh added that holding the FIFF should be considered as a positive move in the cultural affairs of Iran and that the Fajr Film Festival and the Iranian cinema should have the ability to interact with the world cinema.
She has also pointed that holding the 33rd FIFF allows both fans of cinema and filmmakers to be introduced to the current world filmmaking conditions.
The director stated that as long as a festival is called an international one it should literally be carried out in the same way; inviting the ongoing movies of the world, inviting the critics and great figures, all are the crucial features of a qualified festival.
Derakhshandeh referred to inviting well-known cineastes to a festival as another main factor in credibility of a festival regarding international prospects.
“ The interaction between the Iranian and international filmmakers make it a better cultural atmosphere to have a mutual progress.” She continued.
The director of the movie “The Little Bird of Happiness” emphasized providing the experts in cinematography of the world with the chance to be introduced appropriately to Iranian Cinema which would definitely be beneficial to Iranian cinema.
Referring to holding the Iran Film Market, Derakhshandeh stated that the Fajr Film Festival is in vital need of an international market in which we should not merely play the seller’s role.
She also believed that it is “our duty to make it possible for the ones who would like to purchase Iranian films. This market should make such an interaction so that Iranian cinema is introduced to the world market”.
The Iranian director also mentioned that “we should not only make it possible for Iranian films industry to attract more general attention but also we should make it probable for it to be purchased by international television channels.
At the end Derakhshandeh urged to distribute Iranian movies internationally in order to achieve a better universal understanding of Islamic Iranian culture.
The 33rd Fajr International Film Festival will be held from April 25 to May 2, 2015 in Tehran. This is the first year that the international section of the FIFF will be held separate from the national section.
