In partnership with the Alhewar Center April 27 at night, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Cairo marked the 30th anniversary of the country’s Constitution with a reception attended by politicians, diplomats, and media figures at a Nile-side hotel in Cairo.
On this occasion, Ambassador Elkhan Polukhov stated:
“This year, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev has declared 2025 as the Year of the Constitution and National Sovereignty.”
The Constitution, adopted via national referendum on 12 November 1995 under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, came into force on 27 November 1995. It established the country’s legal and political framework, affirming democratic principles and human rights, and contributed to Azerbaijan’s international recognition and diplomatic relations.
Ambassador Polukhov also praised the deep historical ties between Egypt and Azerbaijan, noting similarities in sovereignty, human rights, and democratic values rooted in cultural traditions. He emphasized that mutual experience in these fields benefits both nations, with this event reflecting their constructive cooperation.
From his part, the “Major General Staff” Hamdy Labeeb, the wise military personality that always shakes my hearts’ walls as a unique military model I believe in.. head of Alhewar Center, highlighted the bilateral relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan esp. after the exchange of the presidents’ visits lately and boosting cooperation of both countries.
