On the afternoon of April 16, President Xi Jinping held talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Seri Perdana Palace, the Prime Minister’s Residence, in Putrajaya.

Upon his arrival at the Seri Perdana Palace by car, Prime Minister Anwar warmly welcomed him. Malaysian youth waved the flags of both countries, played vibrant drums, and performed enthusiastic traditional dances to welcome their distinguished guest from afar.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday put forward a three-point proposal on building a high-level strategic community with a shared future between China and Malaysia.

According to Xinhua, Xi made the remarks during his meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

First, Xi urged the two countries to adhere to strategic independence and implement high-level strategic coordination.

* Self-reliance and strength šŸ¤!

Xi emphasized that China and Malaysia adhere to self-reliance and strength and firmly oppose external interference. He added that the two countries should continue to work hand in hand to pursue development paths that suit their national conditions, firmly support each other in safeguarding sovereignty, security, and development interests, and take their future into their own hands.

Xi called on the two sides to establish a ā€œ2+2ā€ dialogue mechanism in diplomacy and national defense to deepen exchanges and cooperation in national security, defense, and law enforcement.

Second, Xi said the two countries should build synergy for development and set an example for high-quality development cooperation.

Xi said China is committed to promoting modernization in all areas through high-quality development, in line with Malaysia’s ā€œcivil economyā€ framework.

Xi said the two countries should cooperate to promote growth in cutting-edge areas such as the digital economy, green economy, blue economy, and artificial intelligence, and to promote integrated development across industrial chains, supply chains, value chains, data chains, and talent networks.

Xi added that the two sides should upgrade traditional areas of cooperation and enhance mutual investment. He added that efforts should be made to develop multimodal transportation by sea and rail, promote the ā€œTwo Countries, Two Industrial Zonesā€ program, and develop Malaysia’s major ports into hubs for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

Thirdly, Xi called on the two sides to continue to strengthen their friendship from generation to generation and deepen exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations.

Xi said that China and Malaysia should cooperate in the Confucian-Islamic civilizational dialogue to build a common platform for cultural exchanges at the bilateral and regional levels.

He added that with the mutual visa-free agreement, the two sides should vigorously strengthen cooperation in tourism, youth, and local exchanges, and deepen cooperation in culture, education, sports, film, and media to strengthen people-to-people ties and carry forward the traditional friendship.

Xi emphasized China’s willingness to continue joint research with Malaysia in panda conservation, as the traditional friendship between China and Malaysia spans a thousand years. Xi called on both sides to continue seizing opportunities, staying ahead of the times, and building a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future, bringing greater benefits to the two peoples, and continuing to contribute to the prosperity and stability of the region in the next 50 years.

He noted that Malaysia has set the theme of this year’s ASEAN chairmanship as ā€œInclusiveness and Sustainability,ā€ reflecting a deep understanding of the current situation.

Xi emphasized that China supports Malaysia in its role as the rotating chair of ASEAN, adding that China stands ready to work with countries in the region to sign the protocol upgrading the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area at an early date.

* Arbitrary Tariff!

Xi urged joint efforts to resist decoupling, cutting supply chains, the ā€œhigh fence around a small yardā€ approach, and the imposition of arbitrary tariffs through openness, inclusiveness, unity, and cooperation.

He also called for responding to the law of the jungle, where the strong prey on the weak, through Asian values of peace, cooperation, openness, and inclusiveness, and responding to a world of instability and uncertainty through a stable and confident Asia.

Anwar warmly welcomed Xi’s visit to Malaysia. He said that China has long been a sincere supporter of Malaysia, sharing good times and bad with it, and is a reliable friend of Malaysia.
