Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, today received Ambassador Elkhan Polukhov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Cairo, at his office in the Governorate’s General Diwan.
During the meeting, the Governor of Cairo emphasized the depth of relations between the two countries, Egypt and Azerbaijan, which have witnessed a significant boom in recent years, especially during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who visited Baku in 2023 and launched a new path for relations between the two countries based on strategic partnership and cooperation in all economic, commercial, political, cultural, and scientific fields.
During his meeting with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, the Governor of Cairo discussed ways to activate the Friendship and Cooperation Agreement between Cairo and Baku, which was signed in June 2024 on the sidelines of the meetings of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Supreme Committee in Cairo.
The Governor of Cairo indicated that the agreement aims to strengthen the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between the two sides in the fields of culture, arts, science, education, health, medicine, tourism, sports, youth, and environmental protection, to benefit each other.
The Cairo Governor added that this agreement is a continuation of the efforts made to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries and benefit from their respective experiences, thus strengthening prospects for bilateral action and contributing to strengthening and developing cooperation in various fields.
