His Excellency Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament (AP) affirmed that the Palestinian cause has enjoyed absolute and continuous support from its members since the inception of the Non-Aligned Movement, based on their full belief in the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. He called on the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement to take a clear and strong position on the genocidal war and brutal massacres committed by the occupying entity against the Palestinian people, and to reject any plans or attempts to displace them from their historical land.
This came in a speech delivered by the Speaker of the Arab Parliament at the Fourth Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in the Uzbek capital on the sidelines of the meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The conference commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, which adopted the Ten Founding Principles, which constituted a fundamental basis for the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement. These principles, foremost among them: respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in the internal affairs of any state, respect for the right of all peoples to live in freedom and dignity, respect for international law, and the realization of the principle of international justice.
In his speech, Al-Yamahi said, “Today, we are in dire need of implementing these principles at all levels, especially as the current global order faces real problems related to the absence of international justice, violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and disrespect for the right of peoples to self-determination and to live in freedom and dignity.”
In his speech, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament denounced the inability of the international system, with all its institutions, to save a people being exterminated daily, in every sense of the word. This is in light of the brutal occupation entity’s insistence on its utter disregard for the rules of international law, its behavior according to the law of the jungle, and its persistence in committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He emphasized the need to respect and implement international law and international legitimacy resolutions for all countries without exception.
