PM dr. Mostafa Madbouly inaugurates Suez Canal Customs Logistics Center in partnership with Agility

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and his companions, began the tour in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, affiliated with the Suez Canal Economic Zone, by inaugurating the developed customs logistics center for the economic zone, in partnership with Agility.

Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, pointed out that today’s tour includes the opening of projects with total investments exceeding $544 million on an area of 897 thousand square meters, providing nearly 10 thousand job opportunities, noting that this reflects the interest of the Suez Canal Economic Zone in the priorities of the Egyptian state’s economic agenda, explaining that these projects include the fields of logistics services, engineering industries, building materials, textiles, chemical industries, production of medical and industrial gases, and renewable energy industries, which enhances the localization of strategic industries, supports local supply chains, and confirms the availability of an attractive investment climate that reflects investors’ confidence in the Egyptian economy and the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Following the inauguration of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Logistics Center project, which was established in partnership with Agility Logistics Complexes, the Prime Minister listened to an explanation from the Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, who indicated that this project aims to establish a logistics zone and develop, operate and automate customs services in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, with a total investment cost of $60 million, on an area of 100,000 m2, providing 2,500 direct and indirect job opportunities, noting that this center was established in only 10 months from September 2023 to June 2024. The Prime Minister learned from Eng. Wael Khalifa, General Manager of Agility, about the components of the center, the nature of work in it, and the services it provides, as he indicated that the center provides, through an electronic platform, a comprehensive digital experience that enables accurate management of shipments and ensures the clearance of goods on time, through the use of the latest technical solutions, smart tools and one-stop-shop policies, in addition to electronic integration and connectivity to improve customs operations And logistics, to enhance performance efficiency.

He added: The center also provides integrated solutions for handling and inspection through the latest facilities and technologies to ensure safe and efficient handling of goods during customs inspection and clearance operations, as these services aim to achieve the highest standards of safety and quality, which provides flexibility at every step.

Eng. Wael Khalifa explained that to enhance logistical efficiency in storage and transportation, the logistics center includes safe storage facilities and distinguished transportation services that ensure smooth operations, as well as an advanced digital platform that provides access to an integrated network of local transportation companies, which gives investors flexible options that meet their diverse logistical needs with ease.

Eng. Wael Khalifa also pointed out that the center has a “Knowledge Bank”, which provides an integrated set of knowledge services, training and qualification, and aims to empower business partners with the necessary knowledge, and to learn about the uses of modern tools and technologies, which will ensure continuous support to improve performance and ensure business sustainability at the center, pointing also to the business services center located in the developed customs logistics center, which provides many services to investors.

During his inspection of the developed customs logistics center, the Prime Minister followed the procedures followed with trucks and their path inside the center, starting from their entry, through weighing and X-ray inspection, or precise inspection, the truck waiting area, the truck contents unloading area, and dividing those contents into designated storage areas according to the nature of these contents. At the end of the tour, the Prime Minister praised the developed customs logistics center and the services it provides that will contribute to reducing the customs clearance time for goods.
