ROOTING and Reinforcing the historical relations between Egypt and Turkey that extend for more than 10 centuries approximately, the Turkish Embassy celebrated this evening, February 19, in front of the iconic tower in the new Egyptian capital, the centenary of Egyptian-Turkish diplomatic relations in the modern era.
The honorable ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen, Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, amidst a large Egyptian media crowd representing all media outlets.

How magical the scene was for the dear one when the iconic tower shone with its lights in the sky of the new Egyptian capital, shining to dispel the darkness of the night that indicates the plots of some to undermine the Egyptian-Turkish cohesion and solidarity, peoples and governments.
Meanwhile, the flags of Egypt and Turkey are waving in embraces documenting the roots of history and geography.
Similarly, on the same night of February 19, the Ataköy Tower lit up the sky of Ankara to share the joy of its Egyptian counterpart, and both the capitals Ankara and the new Egyptian capital blessed the joy of the Egyptian and Turkish people with their flags waving and embracing.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey also celebrated the centenary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in a message published on X today.
The centenary celebration coincides with the anniversary of the mutual representation of diplomatic and consular representatives in the two countries in 1925. In 1925, the Egyptian ambassador in Ankara and the Turkish ambassador in Cairo assumed their duties after reaching an understanding and agreement. Later, Egyptian consuls general began working in other cities of Turkey, especially in Istanbul, and the Turkish Consulate General was established in Alexandria, Egypt.
The diplomatic relations between the two countries date back to the era of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, and King Farouk was the ruler of Egypt. Since then, the two countries have worked to strengthen their international relations with the strength they derive from their more than 1,000-year history and common culture, in line with mutual interest, cooperation and closer relations.
Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen told reporters, Turkey and Egypt will enrich and celebrate this year with cultural, artistic and academic activities, noting that the “Anatolian Fire” band is also planning to perform an impressive show near the Giza Pyramids in Egypt this summer. It was also mutually agreed to organize a friendly match between the Turkish and Egyptian under-19 football teams this year.
Ambassador Şen added that a group from Egypt will participate in the April 23 celebrations, which is the National Sovereignty and Children’s Day organized by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) for years and has become a tradition in Turkey, and the invited group is expected to participate in the program.
Turkish Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen also stressed that relations between the two countries will continue to deepen and develop in all fields, with the aim of achieving peace, security, stability and mutual regional development.
Ambassador Şen added: This year, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is also scheduled to visit Cairo, during which the strategic relations between the two countries will be reviewed, and will lead to taking new steps in various fields. Turkey and Egypt will not only be in close consultation and coordination for the sake of regional peace, security, safety and stability, but the goal from now on will continue to focus on economic development, progress and prosperity through trade, investment and industry, in line with the mutual interests of the two countries.
Ambassador Şen stressed that the most important source of inspiration for achieving this goal and this strategy is the common history and culture between the two brotherly countries, which extends for more than 1000 years, full of love and close ties between the two brotherly countries.
