In a side meeting, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met with Ms. Annalena Baerbock, German Foreign Minister, on Thursday, February 13, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Syria held in Paris.

Minister Abdel Aati praised the distinguished levels of Egyptian-German relations in various fields, noting that Germany is one of Egypt’s largest partners in the economic and development fields, as major German companies are present in Egypt to implement national projects, stressing the importance that Egypt attaches to strengthening its economic and development relations, and the need to encourage more German investments, especially in the energy, transportation and green transformation sectors. Minister Abdel Aati also expressed his aspiration for Germany’s support for Egypt within the European Union institutions to obtain the second tranche of the economic support package within the framework of the strategic and comprehensive partnership between Egypt and the European Union, worth 4 billion euros.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments, as Minister Abdel-Ati reviewed Egypt’s efforts to consolidate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza with all its provisions and three time periods, and the access of humanitarian and relief aid to the Strip, stressing the importance of starting the process of early recovery and reconstruction with the presence of Palestinians on their land.
