Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him, Riyadh will host tomorrow the activities of the second edition of the International Labor Market Conference “GLMC”, which bears the slogan “The Future of Work”, with a high-level attendance of 45 Ministers of Labor, heads and representatives of international organizations interested in labor markets, and the attendance of more than 5,000 participants and 200 speakers from labor policy makers, experts, and specialists from more than 100 countries.
The International Labor Market Conference will be held over two days at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in the capital, Riyadh, organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, with wide participation from global experts and leaders.
The conference includes many accompanying events such as: the ministerial meeting of the Ministers of Labor “Round Table”, the signing of many agreements, the accompanying exhibition of the most important products implemented by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development system, which received local, regional and international awards, bilateral meetings bringing together participants from representatives of the government and private sectors and international professional organizations for labor markets, and the Labor Award ceremony in its fourth edition, in addition to holding more than 50 specialized dialogue sessions organized in partnership with the International Labor Organization, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, in addition to the non-profit Misk Foundation; which gives an international character that enhances the importance of the discussions and enriches the resulting recommendations. The conference, which is held under the slogan “The Future of Work”, focuses on presenting creative solutions, ideas, best practices and global experiences, discussing issues and challenges in global labor markets, and highlighting the development of skills and human capabilities in a sustainable manner to keep pace with rapid changes, and increasing productivity through innovative solutions that support the balance between economic growth and performance efficiency, in addition to presenting the challenges of youth and exploring ways to empower them to better utilize their potential, and promoting green jobs as part of global efforts towards a fair and sustainable economy, and discussing the role of small companies and new models of work in creating innovative job opportunities that support economic growth and enhance the competitiveness of global labor markets.
His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, explained that the second edition of the International Labor Market Conference comes under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – to reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting international efforts to address the accelerating challenges in labor markets, noting that the conference aims to bring together the most important actors and influencers in global labor markets to build a common vision that supports sustainable growth and achieves success and prosperity for all.
He explained that this edition of the conference focuses on providing innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to developing labor market policies, empowering competencies, and enhancing international cooperation, expressing his confidence that the conference will constitute an important step towards achieving this ambitious vision and translating it into a tangible reality that supports the future of labor markets globally.
