Yesterday, the Korean Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Sahbat Khair Development Association, hosted a group of primary and middle school students in the first “Welcome Korea” event for the year 2025.
At first, the participants toured the center to learn about the activities it offers, before moving to the cinema hall where they enjoyed watching a documentary film on the most important cultural events and activities offered by the center.
In a new tradition, and with the aim of introducing the cultural landmarks in all Korean cities and provinces, the center showed a documentary film about “Gangwon” Province, which is located in the eastern part of Korea. It is known as one of the largest Korean provinces and is famous for its mountains and picturesque natural landscapes, which are covered in white in the winter.
Gangwon is also famous for hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang, which is one of its affiliated cities. Last year, Gangwon hosted the Winter Youth Olympics.
Participants enjoyed the experience of wearing the traditional Korean costume “Hanbok”, playing traditional Korean games, and tasting some Korean foods.
The Sahbat Khair Development Association aims to develop and enhance the skills of students at various educational levels by involving them in cultural events and workshops.
For his part, Oh Sung-ho, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, said that it is fortunate that the center’s first event coincides with the Seollal Festival, which begins tomorrow, Wednesday, noting that the center is preparing to organize more cultural events during the current year, which coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in an effort to enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
The Ahlan Korea event, which is scheduled to be organized monthly during the current year, provides a rich experience for participants to get to know the components of Korean culture closely.
