This morning, the Russian media discussed the Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement issued yesterday with great interest on several channels and daily newspapers, and a number of political analysts participated in analyzing the statement within the framework of Russian media interest in the Egyptian statement.
This was stated by Sherif Gad, head of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities and Secretary-General of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association, who is currently visiting Russia to participate in the celebration of the 270th anniversary of the founding of Moscow University, the first Russian university.
It is worth noting that the statement addressed the Egyptian position on the Palestinian issue, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Egypt’s adherence to the constants and determinants of the political settlement of the Palestinian issue, stressing that it remains the central issue in the Middle East, and that the delay in settling it, ending the occupation and returning the usurped rights of the Palestinian people, is the basis of instability in the region.
In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Egypt’s continued support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and their adherence to their legitimate rights in their land and homeland, and to the principles of international law and international humanitarian law.
It also stressed its rejection of any infringement of these inalienable rights, whether through settlement or annexation of land, or by evacuating that land from its owners through displacement or encouraging the transfer or uprooting of Palestinians from their land, whether temporarily or long-term, in a way that threatens stability and portends further extension of the conflict to the region, and undermines the chances of peace and coexistence among its peoples. In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to work to begin the actual implementation of the two-state solution, including the embodiment of the Palestinian state on its entire national territory and within the context of the unity of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the lines of June 4, 1967.
