MASAM removes 3,174 mines in Yemen during a week

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center “MASAM” project to clear Yemeni lands of mines during the fourth week of December 2024 managed to remove 3,174 mines in various regions of Yemen, including 3 anti-personnel mines, 7 anti-tank mines, and 3,164 unexploded ordnance.

The “MASAM” team removed 3,137 unexploded ordnance in Aden Governorate, and removed one anti-personnel mine in Qataba District in Al Dhale Governorate. In Al Hudaydah Governorate, one anti-personnel mine and 3 unexploded ordnance were removed in Hays District, and two anti-tank mines and two unexploded ordnance were removed in Al Khawkhah District. In Lahj Governorate, the team was able to remove one unexploded ordnance in Tuban District, 6 unexploded ordnance in Al Wahtah District, and 3 unexploded ordnance in Al Mudharbah District. In Marib Governorate, one anti-tank mine was removed in Raghwan District, one anti-tank mine in Al Wadi District, and one unexploded ordnance in Al Muzaffar District in Taiz Governorate.

In Shabwa Governorate, the team removed one unexploded ordnance in Usaylan District, one unexploded ordnance in Ain District, and one anti-personnel mine in Bayhan District. In Taiz Governorate, two anti-tank mines and 9 unexploded ordnance were removed in Dhubab District, and one anti-tank mine was removed in Mawza District.

Thus, the number of mines removed during the month of December rose to 5,398 mines, while the number of mines removed since the beginning of the “Masam” project until now rose to 476,432 mines that were randomly planted in various Yemeni lands to claim more innocent victims of children, women and the elderly.
