A celebration was held on the occasion of the 121st anniversary of the founding of Manial Palace. During the ceremony, a band consisting of Egyptian students performed Turkish folk music and Turkish classical music songs.
The songs performed by the Egyptian students at the ceremony, which were contributed by the Yunus Emre Institute of the Republic of Turkey, were well received.
The Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, also attended the ceremony, which was attended by about 200 guests.
They exchanged views with the Director of the Manial Museum of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities and other officials on cooperation in the events that will be held next year at the Manial Museum to commemorate the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and the Republic of Turkey.
Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen pointed out that the Manial Palace is one of the most important and beautiful symbols of the shared history of Turkey and Egypt. He mentioned that there are symbols, pictures and banners about the history of the Ottoman Empire in many corners of this palace. Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen continued that in fact, the Golden Hall in Istanbul was built specifically for Sultan Abdulmecid’s visit to the commander of the Egyptian forces, Emir Elhami Pasha, to congratulate the success of the Egyptian forces that supported the Ottoman Empire’s war with Russia and the joint Turkish-Egyptian flag was displayed during the Ottoman Empire.
He stated that this hall was later transferred to Cairo by Emir Muhammad Ali Tevfik and rebuilt in the Manial Palace.
At the ceremony held on the occasion of the 121st anniversary of the establishment of the palace, a group of students described the periods of Egypt as a period of prosperity during the Ottoman Empire.
Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen also congratulated the Egyptian students for their speeches and poetic narratives about the period in question.
At the end of the ceremony, a commemorative shield was presented to Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen and other participants by the Manial Museum.
