Tweeting on his X account, PM of Malaysia, dr. Anwar Ibrahim:
Alhamdulillah, today we celebrate the State Guest of the President of Turkmenistan, TYT Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is currently on an Official Visit to Malaysia. This is President Serdar’s first visit to Malaysia since assuming the presidency in 2022.
Before embarking on various issues close to both countries, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate President Serdar on the 300th birth anniversary of the great Turkmen poet, thinker and literary figure Magtymguly Pyragy.
In bilateral meetings, I emphasized the need to increase trade relations in the commodity fields involving palm oil, rubber and cocoa even though the rate of trade saw an increase in 2024 compared to 2023 ( ↑ 74.8% from $7.91 million to $13.9 million).
We agreed to explore potential cooperation in the halal field and industry as well as expertise in the Islamic financial system. In the same meeting room, I also welcomed the establishment of the Malaysia-Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce as a vehicle to boost business and trade relations between the two countries.
We also agreed to explore areas of cooperation between the ASEAN and C5 (Central Asia 5: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) coalition to advance more just and inclusive international principles and systems.
