On December 18, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, participated in the 21st session of the Council of Ministers of the Developing Eight Group of Countries (D8), which is being held in preparation for the 11th Summit of the Developing Eight Group of Countries, which the President of the Republic will chair tomorrow, December 19, in the presence of heads of state and government.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Group of Eight witnessed Egypt receiving the presidency of the group from the Republic of Bangladesh. In his speech, Minister Abdel Aati addressed the precise timing of the summit, and its coincidence with pressing regional and international events and unprecedented economic challenges, highlighting its direct repercussions on developing countries. Minister Abdel Aati addressed the consequences of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and the resulting humanitarian disaster and destruction of infrastructure, in addition to the extension of the Israeli aggression to Syria and Lebanon in a flagrant violation of international law, which prompted Egypt to take the initiative to hold a special session on Palestine and Lebanon during the summit tomorrow.
Regarding the prospects for future cooperation between the group’s countries, Minister Abdel Aati stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the group’s members in all sectors and exploring new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation, stressing the importance of empowering the private sector, attracting investments and creating a climate to encourage more cooperation between the group’s countries, in addition to empowering youth.
