On the sidelines of his bilateral visit to China, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met on Friday, December 13, with Mr. Li Jianfong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of “China Gezhouba Group International Engineering”.
Minister Abdel Aati stressed the Egyptian side’s pride in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China and the multiple areas of bilateral cooperation, noting that economic and investment cooperation is of particular importance to both sides due to the important role played by Chinese companies in the Egyptian market, and he valued the existing cooperation relations with the company and its participation in a number of major projects in Egypt.
In connection with the above, the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted Egypt’s interest in new and renewable energy projects, and enhancing the level of coordination and cooperation with the company in this promising field, noting that Egypt seeks to produce 10 million tons of green ammonia by enhancing foreign investments in Egypt. He also referred to the project that the company is working on implementing in Egypt, in cooperation with other foreign companies, in the field of green hydrogen, which is one of the most important areas at the top of the Egyptian government’s priorities at the present time.
Minister Abdel Aati pointed to the advanced priority that Egypt also gives to the issue of localizing industry and technology, especially in areas related to renewable energy, in addition to training and employing local workers and creating new job opportunities in the Egyptian market, noting the Egyptian side’s keenness to remove all obstacles to foreign investments in Egypt.
