Minister of FA & Immigration stresses Egypt’s interest in enhancing the automotive industry

Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met on Friday, December 13, with Mr. Ming Xiangjun, Vice President of Great Wall Motor Company of China, on the sidelines of his bilateral visit to China.

Minister Abdel Aati stressed the Egyptian side’s interest in enhancing the automotive industry in the Egyptian market, especially electric cars, pointing out that the Egyptian government has taken many important steps during the past period for this purpose, including “launching the National Program for the Development of the Automotive Industry” and inaugurating the “Supreme Council for Cars”, in addition to launching the “Environmentally Friendly Car Financing Fund” and other measures to support investors wishing to invest in this field. He noted that there is a noticeable increase in the local market demand for electric cars, especially in light of the important and ambitious steps taken by the Egyptian government towards the green transformation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that the Egyptian government is adopting policies that make the elements of electric car production in Egypt highly competitive, and it has many industries that feed cars. He urged the Chinese company to be a partner in implementing the directives of the political leadership of the two countries to support Chinese investments in this field, and to benefit from the huge local and regional market that Egypt offers, stressing the Egyptian government’s keenness to provide all facilities to support this vital sector, which is a priority for the Egyptian side.
