Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met on Monday, December 2, with Mr. Luis Gilberto Murillo, Colombian Foreign Minister, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference to Strengthen the Humanitarian Response in Gaza.
The two ministers discussed the need to provide humanitarian support to the Palestinian people, and the importance of concerted international efforts to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches the Strip urgently. The Foreign Minister praised Colombia’s honorable position on the Palestinian issue. The two ministers also exchanged views on the situation in Sudan and the Middle East, and the need to stop the escalation in the region.
The two ministers also stressed the need to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries, the importance of increasing the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Colombia, and expanding the scope of existing cooperation to include other areas such as energy and agriculture, especially in light of the momentum witnessed by bilateral relations between the two countries and the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries, the latest of which was the visit made by Colombia’s First Lady, Veronica Alcocer, to Egypt last November.
