Ambassador Şen: Ayse Nur Ezgi Eci represents the faith and commitment to the Palestinian cause that every Turkish citizen has
On the International Day of Solidarity with Palestine organized by the Arab League, Ayse Nur Ezgi Eci was commemorated, in memory of her, her faith in the Palestinian cause and her sacrifice.
Cairo Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen received the shield presented to Ayse Nur Ezgi Eci on behalf of the Turkish state.
The International Day of Solidarity with Palestine was organized at the Arab League on December 1, 2024.
At the ceremony, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League, the Secretary-General of Al-Azhar Foundation, the Official Spokesperson of the Orthodox Church, the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League, and the Permanent Representative of Iraq delivered speeches.
The ceremony was attended by many representatives of diplomatic missions in Cairo, ambassadors, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, and UN Resident Representative in Cairo Elena Panova.
During the ceremony, Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen, who attended the ceremony upon special invitation, received a shield of honor in memory of Ayşe Nur Ezgi Ece, who was shot in the head by Israeli armed forces on September 6, 2024, while she was in a peaceful protest against illegal settlements as part of the Palestine Solidarity Movement.
Speaking after the shield of honor ceremony, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen said that Ayşe Nur Ezgi Ece was shot and killed by Israeli army forces on September 6, 2024, while she was in a peaceful protest against illegal settlements near the village of Beita in the occupied West Bank,
Adding that Ayşe Nur Ezgi Ece studied Middle Eastern languages and cultures at the college from which she graduated in America.
Ambassador Şen said that Ayşe Nur Ezgi Ece represents faith and commitment to the Palestinian cause, as every Turkish citizen does.
It was reported that Ayse Nur Izgi Ece was buried in the Didim district of Aydın province in Turkey, after the funeral prayer attended by her family and high-ranking officials, including Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Cevdet Yilmaz and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Ambassador Shen stated that the dear memory of Ayse will always live on, and said that he will hand over the shield of honor to Ayse Nur Izgi Ece’s family.

The message reads: “Ayse Nur was like the olive tree where she took her last breath, a strong, beautiful and helpful person. Her place in our lives was taken away by Israeli soldiers, using violence illegally, unjustly and senselessly.”
