Accompanied by the Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Mr. Salih Mutlu Shen, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Ayman Ashour received in the New Administrative Capital today Dr. Erol Ozvar, Chairman of the Turkish Higher Education Council. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Egyptian Higher Education and Scientific Research Council and their deputies, members of the Board of Directors, presidents of various important universities from Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the Egyptian Higher Universities Council.
During the discussions that took place between the two sides, the implementation of the cooperation agreement in the field of higher education was discussed, which was signed during the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Ankara on September 4 as a guest of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. During the meeting, a general discussion took place on the affairs of higher education and science between the two countries, and the strategic vision for cooperation in the field of research.
During the meetings, the two sides agreed in principle to establish a Turkish-Egyptian university in Cairo. The delegations also discussed the exchange of academics and researchers, with priority given to the fields of health and engineering, as well as the issue of providing scholarships from Turkey for Egyptian university students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and the issue of sending professors and academics from Turkey to nearly 20 Turkish departments in Egypt. The meeting also evaluated the establishment of an Egyptology department in Turkey.
The two sides agreed in principle on technological and industrial cooperation in all areas of cooperation, especially scientific research and technology, taking into account the technological contribution of Egyptian-Turkish companies and continuing communication.
During the meeting, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ashour, accepted the invitation of the Chairman of the Turkish Higher Education Council, Dr. Ozvar, to visit Turkey.
