Ambassador Sherif Issa, Egypt’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, is making strenuous efforts to try to end the crisis of Zamalek trio Dunga, Mostafa Fathy and Mohamed Sobhi after they assaulted a security guard during the Zamalek and Pyramids match in the semi-final of the Egyptian Super Cup.
Ambassador Sherif Issa’s calls, which were witnessed by MP Hossam El-Mandouh, Zamalek Club Treasurer and Board Member, continued for 12 continuous hours in an attempt to reach a solution with Emirati officials and reconcile with the victim, which culminated in a decision to release the three players on bail of 600,000 dirhams.
Even if the issue is resolved, Zamalek players are subject to imprisonment or a fine, which is what Ambassador Sherif Issa is urgently trying to do, especially since the position of the Zamalek players is unsportsmanlike and immoral, and harms the reputation of Egyptian players in the Emirates, where 750,000 Egyptian citizens enjoy special care from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the President of the State, personally, and Emirati officials, especially since the position of the players has angered the Egyptian people and the Egyptian community in the Emirates, who wait for these occasions with great happiness to participate in Egyptian sporting events.
