KSA assumes leadership of a number of ITUWTSA

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) won, by consensus of the member states of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Standardization Sector, a number of international positions during the work of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (ITUWTSA) held in the Indian city of New Delhi, where the Kingdom’s representatives will assume executive roles in the Assembly, in addition to their membership as chairs and vice-chairs in the ITU-T study groups and the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group.

The Assembly announced the victory of the Deputy Governor of the Communications and Space Technology Commission for the Telecommunications Sector, Eng. Abdullah Al-Mubdal, as Vice President of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly, and the Deputy Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority for the Strategy and International Cooperation Sector, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Hassan, as Chairman of the Telecommunications Standardization Advisory Group.

The association indicated that the Director General of International Affairs at the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, Eng. Moaz Al-Rumaih, won the position of Vice Chairman of the Digital Technologies Standardization Study Committee and Vice Chairman of the Internet of Things and Smart Cities and Communities Studies Committee, while the Director of the International Representation Department at the Commission, Shahd Al-Balawi, assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the Technical Terminology Committee. In addition, the Director of the Digital Resources Department at the Commission, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Mughamis, won the position of Vice Chairman of the Committee for Studies of Operational Aspects of Providing Services and Managing Communications, while the Director of the Service Quality Development Department, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Dhubaiban, achieved the position of Vice Chairman of the Committee for Studies of Performance, Service Quality and Experience, and Afnan Al-Roumi won the position of Vice Chairman of the Cybersecurity Studies Committee.

The Kingdom’s victory in filling these positions confirms the effective role of national expertise in formulating international standards that support the growth of global innovation. It also highlights the confidence enjoyed by the Kingdom and its contributions through the Communications, Space and Technology Commission in enabling and enhancing standardization activities in the International Telecommunication Union and its regulatory and technical operations, while their contributions will form the standards that keep pace with modern technical developments that will lead to driving economic growth, achieving sustainable development and creating the future of communications, space and technology globally.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International Telecommunication Union for nearly six decades, and is a strong contributor to the initiatives and objectives of the International Telecommunication Union, its working groups and committees, as the Kingdom seeks to enhance regional and international cooperation and solidarity in the field of radiocommunications by occupying leadership positions in the International Telecommunication Union.
