Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen said that Turkey would like to have a strong presence in all categories (feature film, short film, children’s films) at the Alexandria Film Festival to be held in 2025.

Yesterday, October 2, Ambassador Şen met with the Governor of Alexandria, Major General Ahmed Khaled, on the sidelines of his participation in the opening of the 40th Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries. He expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Governor to Turkish investments in the city of Borg El Arab in Alexandria.

Ambassador Şen also met with the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Professor Ahmed Hano, on the sidelines of the festival.

Last week, an Egyptian delegation headed by the head of the Federation of Artistic Syndicates visited Ambassador Şen, and the two parties agreed during the meeting to organize the “Turkish Film Week” in the coming years.

Ambassador Shen pointed out that there are more than a thousand years of common history and cinematic culture between Turkey and Egypt and that this is a cultural treasure.

Ambassador Shen said that some of the heroes of these cultural treasures are buried in shrines, some in Istanbul and some in Cairo, and their stories have not yet been published.

Ambassador Shen said that some of these cultural treasures are hidden in monuments, public fountains, shrines, manuscripts, archives, mosques, minarets and palaces that are waiting to be visited in Istanbul and Cairo.

Ambassador Shen stated that all of this can be passed on to future generations in a sound and correct manner through novels and the art of cinema.
