Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), met on Thursday 9/26/2024 with Ms. Diana Mondino, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the (79) session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit referred to the importance that the Arab League attaches to its historical relations with Argentina and to the Arab-Argentine friendship that is always based on mutual support for just causes, appreciating the historical positions that Argentina has always taken to support the Palestinian cause, and at the same time expressing the Arab League’s regret regarding some positions that were recently adopted and considered unacceptable by the Arabs, especially on the issue of Jerusalem, in which any movement or talk about it is characterized by special sensitivity in light of its great importance.
In this context, Aboul Gheit explained to Minister Mondino the importance of reviewing and correcting these Argentine trends and positions to avoid unfavorable Arab reactions to them.
