On Monday, September 23, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met with Mr. “Sirajuddin Muhriddin”, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Egypt’s aspiration to enhance joint cooperation in various areas of bilateral cooperation, especially in the trade and investment fields, and in the fields of education, capacity building and others, and to hold the Political Consultation Committee as soon as possible. He referred to the grants provided by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, which the Tajik side can benefit from, in addition to strengthening training programs and courses with the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development in various fields.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also expressed Egypt’s desire to continue joint coordination on environmental and water issues, praising the leadership role played by Tajikistan in the historic UN Water Conference held in 2023 and the cooperation undertaken by the delegations of the two countries in New York to successfully hold this conference to develop the international water agenda.
The Minister pointed to the convergence of visions between the two countries regarding the need to combat terrorism, extremism and organized crime, and the grave danger they pose to regional and international peace and stability, expressing his aspiration to enhance cooperation with Tajikistan in the field of combating terrorism, extremist thought and ideologies, taking into account Egypt’s extensive experience in this regard.
The two ministers agreed to intensify coordination and cooperation on issues of common interest at the international level in light of the convergence of views between the two countries in this regard.
