In continuation of the meetings he is holding during his current visit to the US capital, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs (FA) and Immigration, met on September 20 with the US envoy to Yemen, “Tim Lenderking”.

Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explained that Minister Abdel Aati stressed during the meeting Egypt’s support for all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and Security Council Resolution 2216, in a way that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people and ends their humanitarian suffering. He also stressed Egypt’s steadfast support for the unity, independence, and territorial integrity of the Yemeni state, as well as Egypt’s support for legitimacy in Yemen and the independence of state institutions, noting that the security and stability of Yemen, as well as the Red Sea file and the safety of maritime navigation in it, represent a top priority for Egyptian national security and the security of the Arab region and the Red Sea region.

His Excellency also expressed Egypt’s rejection of the Yemeni crisis being an entry point for non-Red Sea countries to engage in security arrangements related to it, explaining the direct link between Red Sea security and stability in the Horn of Africa region.

The official spokesman added that Dr. Abdel-Ati explained the importance of the international community playing its role in reducing the aggravation of the humanitarian crisis suffered by the Yemeni people, and providing the necessary support to finance the United Nations relief programs in Yemen, pointing to Egypt’s support for the relevant international efforts. His Excellency also noted the Egyptian efforts to provide various forms of support to the Yemeni people, especially in the field of providing medical and food aid.
