Minister Badr Abdel Ati to US Envoy to Sudan: Egypt stresses Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and rejection of foreign interference

Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met with Mr. Tom Perriello, US Envoy to Sudan, today, Friday, September 20, during his current visit to Washington.

Ambassador Tamim Khilaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, explained that the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the determinants of Egypt’s position towards Sudan, which is based on supporting the Sudanese state institutions, stressing Egypt’s keenness on Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and rejection of foreign interference.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed Egypt’s efforts to resolve the crisis, especially its hosting of the Sudan Neighboring Countries Summit in July 2023, the Sudanese Political and Civil Forces Conference in July 2024, and its active participation in the recent Geneva talks.

Minister Abdel Aati also noted that Egypt continues to open its doors to Sudanese brothers fleeing the ravages of war, stressing the importance of all international donors fulfilling their pledges towards Sudan’s neighboring countries receiving Sudanese refugees.

The official spokesman concluded his statements by pointing out that Minister Abdel Aati was keen to emphasize Egypt’s intensification of its efforts to overcome the difficulties facing the movement of aid trucks through the crossings linking it to Sudan.
