Mr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs (FA) and Immigration, received a phone call today from Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, where the call discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the dangerous escalation in the West Bank.

Ambassador Tamim Khilaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, stated that the call included an emphasis on the importance of a rapid ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, and facilitating the tasks of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). During the call, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed the determinants of the Egyptian position, which is based on the need to stop the aggression and the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, stressing that peace, security and stability will not be achieved in the region without relying on the agreed-upon references and establishing a Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, the UN Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the role of Egypt, Qatar and the United States in the mediation efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement and exchanging prisoners and detainees, expressing his aspiration to reach this agreement as soon as possible.
