Today evening, both Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan called on Tuesday for an immediate end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, and stressed the need to spare the region a comprehensive war.

Dr. Badr Abdel Aati said during a joint press conference in Cairo on the sidelines of the Arab Foreign Ministers meeting that stopping the aggression on the Gaza Strip is the starting point for achieving stability in the region, allowing aid to enter, and releasing prisoners.

Minister Abdel Aati stressed that achieving security for the peoples of the region will not come through expanding the conflict and opening new fronts, and that Egypt supports efforts to spare Lebanon from escalation, noting that Egypt and Saudi Arabia reject escalation in the Red Sea.

On the other hand, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that delaying reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza so far is evidence of the failure of the international security system.

Minister Bin Farhan added that Egypt and Saudi Arabia are doing their utmost to pressure the international community to reach a ceasefire, and that the role of Egypt, Qatar and the United States in the ceasefire talks in Gaza is pivotal and very important.
