Today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met with Mr. Feng Xingya, General Manager of GAC Motor, on the sidelines of his participation in the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit in Beijing, on behalf of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly welcomed Mr. Feng Xingya, expressing his happiness at the high level of bilateral relations between Egypt and China over the past years, in light of the interest of the political leadership in the two countries in developing this cooperation and benefiting from the available capabilities of the two countries to achieve the common interest.
The Prime Minister pointed out the government’s support for the automotive industry in Egypt, as it issued a special law to localize this industry, especially to enhance the electric car industry, stressing that the government is ready to grant the company additional incentives, including granting the company a golden license in the event of investing in Egypt, which contributes to facilitating the procedures for establishing the company, in addition to the incentives it obtains from the Suez Canal Economic Zone, pointing out that the export opportunities from Egypt are great in light of Egypt’s accession to a number of international trade agreements.
In turn, Mr. Feng Xing Ya, General Manager of GAC Motor, expressed his appreciation for the Prime Minister’s support for the company’s future investment plans in Egypt, referring to the company’s current investments and activities, explaining that half a million electric cars were sold in China during the past year, and that there is demand for the company’s cars in the Egyptian market, reaching 2,000 cars per year.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed his aspiration for the company to open its project in Egypt, reiterating the provision of all means of support from logistical equipment and facilitating procedures to encourage the Chinese company to be one of Egypt’s partners.
