I stopped a lot while participating in the funeral of one of the knights of Egyptian, Arab and international diplomacy, Minister Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi, General -Secretary of the league of Arab States (LAS), minister of Foreign Affairs (FA) and a member of the International Court of Justice (ICJ),  who was the architect of the return of Taba to Egyptian sovereignty in 1988.

In a shot that summarizes the times, distances and negotiations of one of the pillars of Egyptian diplomacy from the beautiful era, the brilliant Minister Amr Moussa, one of the pillars of Egyptian and international diplomacy, with the legendary Ambassador Faiza Abu Al-Naja, who worked as the director of Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali’s office during his tenure as Secretary-General of the United Nations, and was the one who struck the first blow in the case of foreign funding for Egyptian organizations and institutions in 2011, as they exchanged conversation inside the Field Marshal Tantawi Mosque in a rare shot.

My question with all transparency about these national, Egyptian, Arab and international symbols, as we face the fiercest conflict in negotiations with the Israeli and American sides: Isn’t it possible to use such models through a council of wise men that includes these diplomatic figures who left a huge void in our Arab world with their diverse diplomatic relations and their experience that is invaluable to the treasures of the world?!

On the other hand, there was an extension of the dialogue between Minister Sameh Shoukry, one of the sons of the distinguished diplomatic school, and the promising Minister Badr Abdel Aati, on whom we are betting because he came from the womb of Egyptian diplomacy in the most dangerous circumstances and timing that Egypt, the Arab region and the entire world are going through, but we are betting on the skills, capabilities and charisma of this minister who learned at the hands of professors who left a huge diplomatic and political legacy in Arab, Islamic and international forums.

The shot also featured the thinker and ambassador Dr. Mustafa El-Fiqi, one of the philosophers and theorists of Egyptian diplomacy, and next to him was the artist Hani Ramzy.

The scene ended with the news of Jeremiah, head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, who worked for 17 years with Pope Shenouda, who was a journalist, diplomat, and lover of Egypt. We loved him for his love for it, and it was a conversation of memories between us. All these scenes ran through my mind as I watched these summits in front of me and wondered why such rare experiences and exceptional competencies were not exploited. I even heard some Arab diplomats envy Egypt for these competencies that they were taught by, especially since we live in an age of unreasonable negotiation, dialogue, and diplomacy, and we have learned that everything is negotiable, even negotiation is negotiable.
