Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aati congratulates his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and reviews Israeli violations and bilateral relations

On Saturday evening, August 24, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, made a phone call with Mr. Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated his Iranian counterpart on assuming his new position after being granted confidence by the Iranian Parliament, wishing him success in his upcoming tasks.

The two ministers discussed the critical regional situation in light of the ongoing war in Gaza and the repeated Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law. Dr. Abdel-Ati expressed Egypt’s aspiration to reach a truce agreement that would entail a ceasefire and the completion of a hostage and prisoner exchange deal, hoping that the mediation efforts would be crowned with success to ease the tensions witnessed in the region, in order to avoid the region slipping into a vicious cycle of violence and escalation. At the end of the call, the two ministers agreed to continue consultations to follow up on the course of bilateral relations between the two countries during the coming period, and developments in the regional situation.
