KSA participates in the 14th meeting of UN Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management

The Kingdom, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, participated in the work of the 14th meeting of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City during the period from the fifth to the seventh of this August. The Kingdom’s delegation was headed by the President of the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information and Chairman of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts on Geospatial Information Management, Dr. Eng. Mohammed bin Yahya Al-Sael.

The Kingdom said in the speech delivered by the President of the Authority: “The Kingdom appreciates the welcome of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management to the Kingdom’s hosting of the United Nations Global Center for the Ecosystem of Geospatial Information (THE ECOSYSTEM) in Riyadh, and also welcomes the report that includes strengthening arrangements for managing geospatial information at the global level,” stressing that the Kingdom is working to complete all necessary preparations to host the United Nations Global Center for the Ecosystem of Geospatial Information (THE ECOSYSTEM) in Riyadh to contribute to studying aspects of the ecosystem of geospatial information in consultation with the United Nations Committee of Experts on Geospatial Information Management and the teams emanating from it, as well as the member states and centers of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management, as the presence of this center contributes to anticipating the future of geospatial information management. He pointed out that this initiative received support from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which provided all means and readiness for this center to be in the service of everyone. The Kingdom is also honored to contribute to these centers of excellence through its participation in the advisory committees in the centers of excellence, and the Kingdom’s support for extending the current agreement regarding the operation of the United Nations Global Center for Geodetic Excellence until December 31, 2030 AD to ensure the operation of the center in the long term.
