Applications for Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK will open from 6 August to 5 November 2024. Prospective candidates can submit their applications via chevening.org/apply.

Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals from diverse backgrounds who demonstrate the commitment and skills needed to become future leaders. Applicants must present a realistic and achievable plan to create positive change in their country and show how a UK master’s degree will help them bring their idea to life.

The scholarship offers full financial support for scholars to pursue any eligible master’s degree at over 150 UK universities, providing access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

Since its inception in 1983, the programme has enabled over 57,000 professionals to advance their careers through Chevening. For the 2025/2026 academic year, approximately 1,500 awards are available globally, underscoring the UK’s commitment to developing future leaders.

Prominent Egyptian Chevening alumni include several influential figures who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. Among them are HE Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance; HE Dr. Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy at the African Union Commission; HE Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority; and Dr. Sherif Kamel, Dean of the School of Business at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Their achievements highlight the impact of the Chevening Scholarship in fostering leadership and excellence.

Gareth Bayley, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Egypt, said:

“Our alumni network is full of dynamic influencers who have shared the same experience that you will. They can offer encouragement, mentorship, advice, and contacts. When you return home after your studies, you should feel well-equipped to start making a real difference in Egypt. Apply now before the deadline on 5 November 2024, and you could be part of this extraordinary community.”

Dr. Sherif Kamel, Dean of the School of Business at the American University in Cairo, added:

“There is no doubt in my mind that the opportunity provided to me to study in the UK through the Chevening Scholarship has been one of the building blocks that shaped my career, not just in the academic space as a university professor but in general in fulfilling my career objectives and beyond.”

This call for new applicants follows the selection of 27 fully funded scholars from Egypt this year, who won awards to study at UK universities in various fields including environment, education, media, health, economics, finance, management, international relations, development, and law. Women comprised more than half of the successful scholars, with 15 female scholars preparing to pursue their master’s degrees.
