Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), received today, July 30, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat, Mr. Shen Haixiong, Chairman of China Media Group, where the meeting witnessed the discussion of a number of topics of common interest, and the two sides discussed the promising prospects for Arab-Chinese cooperation in the field of media.
Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit praised during the meeting the ongoing and constructive cooperation with the Chinese side, commending the success achieved by the Arab-Chinese Forum and its activities over twenty years, and referring in particular to the last session of the forum held last May in Beijing, which witnessed high-level participation from the Chinese President and leaders of four Arab countries, in addition to a large number of Arab foreign ministers.
The official spokesman stated that in light of the group’s work to intensify humanitarian and cultural exchanges between the Arab and Chinese sides in preparation for the second Arab-Chinese summit scheduled to be held in 2026 in Beijing, and as a contribution to building the Chinese-Arab community for a shared future towards the new era through the media, and within the framework of the Chinese-Arab Digital Archive Initiative, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard.
The spokesman also explained that the head of the group received a certificate of honor from the Arab League, in appreciation of its great contributions in the field of media at the international level.
