The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) signed, via video conference, a financial support memorandum worth $9 million. To support the Humanitarian Fund in Yemen.

The two sides were represented at the signing by the Center’s Assistant General Supervisor for Operations and Programs, Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, and the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Ms. Joyce Musuya.

Under the memorandum, the Center will support the Fund with the aim of confronting the humanitarian crises and humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people that arise as a result of the lack of funding, providing urgent aid to the most vulnerable groups and supporting humanitarian work in Yemen in all relief sectors, as well as supporting the building of non-governmental organizations. With the aim of reducing its dependence on the Humanitarian Fund and enhancing its capabilities to attract funding.

This comes within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Centre, seeking to provide the necessary resources to support humanitarian work in Yemen, and to enhance strategic cooperation with international partners and funding bodies to improve the living conditions of those affected there.
