Al-Tuwaijri: KSA’s protection of human rights based on its established principles and values and the will of its leadership

Her Excellency the President of the Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is determined to move forward towards achieving the best global levels in protecting and promoting human rights, based on its established principles and values, and the will of its leadership that puts the human being before every consideration.

 This came during the Kingdom’s speech at the session to adopt the results of its review within the fourth round of the universal periodic review mechanism at the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

 Al-Tuwaijri, who heads the Kingdom’s delegation participating in this session, said that the Kingdom’s government has shown the utmost levels of cooperation with the universal periodic review mechanism, as it is one of the tools of the Human Rights Council that enables it to play its pivotal role in improving human rights conditions in the world, noting that the principles of equality, dialogue and cooperation Neutrality, objectivity and transparency should represent a basic foundation and common ground for any interaction and joint action between states in the field of human rights.

 She indicated that the Kingdom’s acceptance of most of the recommendations presented to it during the fourth round of the universal periodic review by more than 80%. Evidence of her interest in human rights.

 During the interactive dialogue, the President of the Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, reviewed the most prominent reforms and developments achieved in the Kingdom in the field of human rights related to the topics of the recommendations presented to it, noting that more than (150) legislative, institutional, judicial and procedural reforms and developments have been achieved since the adoption of the “Vision.” Kingdom 2030.

 She explained that these reforms did not stop even during the circumstance that ravaged the world represented by the (Corona-Covid 19) pandemic, stressing that the Kingdom’s care and concern for human rights applies from a national vision because human rights are an integral part of its values and authentic culture that have been translated into legislation and practices.
