Minister Shoukry receives Director General of Operations at WB

Today, Monday, July 1, Mr. Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Ms. Anna Berdi, Director General of Operations at the World Bank (WB), during her current visit to Egypt to discuss enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the World Bank.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the meeting touched on aspects of cooperation between the two sides, as the Foreign Minister was keen to review developments in the economic situation in Egypt and the development achieved by the economic reform program in this regard, expressing his appreciation for the bank’s support. The International Conference for Economic Development Efforts in Egypt, and its aspiration to expand this cooperation to include new areas, in response to the multiple crises the world and the region are witnessing, and the new challenges these crises pose.

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the meeting witnessed the exchange of visions on a number of priority issues, especially developments related to the crises in the region, most notably the Gaza Strip and Sudan, and the humanitarian, economic and political challenges posed by those crises. Minister Shukri was keen to inform the World Bank official of the Egyptian position on relevant regional issues, highlighting the positive role that Egypt plays in supporting and strengthening peace and security in the region.
