Yesterday evening, the Yunus Emre Institute in Cairo (the Turkish Cultural Center) organized a meeting to introduce Turkish scholarships, with the participation of academics and educators specialized in the field of education, along with a number of the institute’s students.
During the meeting, the delegation of the Turks and Relatives in Diaspora Foundation (the donor) presented all the details of the Turkish scholarships and the benefits they provide to students.
In his speech, the director of the Yunus Emre Institute in Cairo, Amin Poyraz, expressed the institute’s constant keenness to introduce Egyptian students to all the opportunities and capabilities that Turkey offers to the outstanding and distinguished in the fields of education, technology and skills development, such as Turkish scholarships and the “Technovest” technology festival, explaining that Egypt is one of The most popular countries for Turkish scholarships every year.
For his part, the head of the delegation of the Turks and Relatives Foundation in the Diaspora, Kamal Kaya, said, “Over the past week, we conducted personal interviews with Egyptian students nominated for Turkish scholarships, and their number reached about 350 students.”
Regarding the most prominent criteria applied in selecting the scholarship winners, he said, “Scholastic and academic excellence is the most important criterion in selecting students, but there are some other aspects that are taken into consideration when determining the scholarship winners. For example, seriousness, appropriate choice of field of study, and ability The student is able to commit and adapt in a different environment and culture.
Kaya pointed out that the proximity of the Turkish and Egyptian cultures to each other has contributed to Egyptian students’ interest in Turkish scholarships, adding that during the current year they have received nearly six thousand applications from Egypt to apply for Turkish scholarships.
