India elects Prime Minister Modi for a third term

India announced the results of its parliamentary elections on June 4, 2024, after a massive six-week electoral process in which nearly a billion voters participated, representing the largest democratic exercise in history. The National Democratic Alliance, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, won the majority for the third time in a row. Alliance members have formally elected Prime Minister Modi to lead a new coalition government, and he is expected to be sworn in on June 8, 2024.

2- President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The President said in his statements: “I extend my sincere congratulations to Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, on the occasion of the Indian people’s renewal of confidence in his leadership for a new term. Egypt looks forward to joint work in the coming years, to open new horizons to strengthen the historical relations that bring together the two friendly countries and peoples, and to achieve benefits.” “We wish the Indian Prime Minister success and the friendly people of India further development and prosperity.”

3- Prime Minister Modi responded with a warm-hearted tweet in which he said: “Grateful for your warm words, Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The continued cooperation between India and Egypt has given new momentum to our relations. I look forward to working with you to achieve unprecedented levels of cooperation in the coming years.”

4- President Sisi visited India in January 2023, where he was the main guest at the celebration held on the occasion of the seventy-fourth anniversary of the Republic of India, thus becoming the first Egyptian president to receive this honor. In June 2023, Prime Minister Modi made his first state visit to Egypt, during which he was honored with the Order of the Nile. During this visit, the two leaders also signed a joint declaration to upgrade bilateral relations between India and Egypt to the level of a strategic partnership. The G20 and BRICS are two other platforms for deepening and strengthening the extended partnership between India and Egypt.
