As FTI announced its bankruptcy June 3, the German Embassy in Cairo is in close contact with the German Travel Insurance Fund, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and other competent Egyptian authorities to support the coordination of crisis resolution measures in this emergency situation.

The German tourism group FTI filed for bankruptcy on June 3. In total, this means that around 60,000 German tourists staying in various travel destinations around the world are affected by bookings through FTI; This also includes many German tourists in Egypt, including many families with children, residing mainly in the Red Sea and Sinai region. In accordance with regulations in Germany, FTI is insured against bankruptcy by the German Travel Insurance Fund DRSF. This means that all costs of hotel and transportation services, booked by German vacationers as part of the holiday package, are protected by insurance and will be reimbursed.

The German Travel Insurance Fund and a local partner company are currently working to ensure that trips that have already begun can be carried out without any problems.

Hotels and transportation companies will receive a confirmed payment guarantee.
