Minister Shoukry heads to Spain for consulting about the Palestinian issue and bilateral relations

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sameh Shukri, went on the morning of Sunday, June 2, to the Spanish capital, “Madrid,” on a visit aimed at continuing the close consultation between the two countries on the latest developments in the Palestinian issue and not… Especially the developments in the war in Gaza and the process of strengthening international recognition of the independent Palestinian state, in addition to discussing all aspects of the distinguished and growing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

Ambassador Abu Zeid added that the visit will include holding expanded political consultations between the two countries headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shukri, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Jose Manuel Albarez, in addition to the Foreign Minister’s meeting with Mr. Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, to consult closely about the role. What Spain can undertake to support efforts to stop the war on the Gaza Strip and restore the path of political settlement of the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution, based on Spain’s positions in support of the Palestinian issue historically, the most recent of which is the important step it recently took to recognize the Palestinian state.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman indicated that the Foreign Minister’s meetings will address following up on the progress made in a number of priority areas of cooperation for the two countries, especially economic cooperation and attracting Spanish investments to Egypt. It will also address coordinating efforts to confront common challenges in the Mediterranean region, especially the phenomenon of illegal immigration.
