KSA hosts the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Regional Aviation Safety Oversight Organization for the Middle East and North Africa

Yesterday, His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, chaired the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Regional Air Safety Oversight Organization for the Middle East and North Africa, with the participation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, and officials of aviation authorities in member states. In conjunction with the Future of Aviation Conference, which is held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – and organized by the General Authority of Civil Aviation over a period of three days, at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center in Riyadh.
The meeting aimed to follow up on the organization’s work, in addition to strengthening and supporting the safety program of the organization’s member states in the field of air safety oversight.
In his opening speech, Al-Duailej welcomed the participants from the organization’s member states, explaining that the Regional Aviation Safety Monitoring Organization for the Middle East and North Africa countries aims to help member states develop and implement training and safety programs, enhance their capabilities to monitor and supervise air safety, and correct deficiencies in the field of safety. And achieving the highest civil aviation safety standards confirmed by the International Aviation Organization.
He said that the Kingdom’s hosting of the headquarters of the Regional Safety Monitoring Organization in the Middle East and North Africa region falls within the framework of achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, from which the Saudi National Aviation Strategy emerged, as an unlimited support given to the Saudi civil aviation sector by the wise government, so that the Kingdom is a pioneer in the field of aviation. Civil aviation and a catalyst for the initiatives it presents at the regional and international levels to contribute to supporting and developing (aviation safety) and implementing best practices in the field of the civil aviation industry and exchanging experiences among specialists. One of the objectives of the national strategy is to support efforts leading to the advancement of the entire civil aviation sector and raise the degree of efficiency and support safety. For his part, ICAO Secretary-General Juan Carlos Salazar expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its invitation to this meeting, stressing the increasing need to establish regional organizations for air safety oversight in accordance with the decisions of the ICAO General Assembly at its 41st session calling for work to encourage the establishment and sustainability of regional safety oversight organizations. Air, and the commitment of the International Civil Aviation Organization to contribute to the success of the organization’s work.
In turn, the Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, Engineer Manar Abdel Nabi, explained that the establishment of RSOO organizations aims to strengthen the legislative and supervisory capabilities of member states for their national air safety system, and enable them to achieve higher levels of compliance with international aviation safety requirements.
The first meeting of the organization reviewed the achievements achieved, discussed the future plan for monitoring and determining the priorities of the comprehensive strategy that aims to achieve the maximum benefit from the organization’s work mechanism.
It is noteworthy that the Regional Air Safety Surveillance Organization in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA RSO0), whose headquarters is in the city of Riyadh, aims to enhance the use of civil aviation and develop it in a safe and effective manner inside and outside the organization’s member states, and to develop guidance materials and conduct studies and training. And consulting.
