The High Dam Builders Association, headed by Engineer Sabry El-Ashmawy, in cooperation with the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, headed by Murad Gatin, will organize at seven o’clock in the evening tomorrow, Wednesday, May 15, a celebration on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the diversion of the Nile River, which took place during the construction of the Great High Dam project, in the seminar hall. At the headquarters of the Russian Cultural Center in Dokki.
The celebration is held under the auspices of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association, headed by Dr. Ibrahim Kamel.
Sherif Gad, Secretary-General of the Friendship Society, stated that the celebration will take place in the presence of Engineer Abdel Hakim Gamal Abdel Nasser, son of the late leader, and a group of engineers and technicians from the builders of the High Dam.
The program includes the showing of a short documentary film about diverting the course of the Nile River. The Russian Center’s Song Choir also participates in presenting a collection of Russian and Arabic songs for this occasion under the supervision of Maestro Luisa Plidjanets.
Gad confirmed that the names of a number of late engineers who contributed to building the dam will be honored, and a large group of engineers who participated in building the dam will be honored.
